Ajith Kumar's action film Good Bad Ugly is no longer available on Netflix India after a court order prohibited the use of three of Ilaiyaraaja's songs.
Chennai | September 17, 2025: Netflix India seems to have removed the Ajith Kumar movie Good Bad Ugly off its site after a Madras High Court verdict in a copyright case with well-known composer Ilaiyaraaja. For the Indian streaming scene, this is a major move. It was on the streamer since May 8, but now when they look for it, they get a message that says 'Oops, we don't have that.'
The withdrawal comes after the Madras High Court ordered Mythri Movie Makers, the firm that made the movie, that they couldn't utilize three of Ilaiyaraaja's songs. The composer sent the producers a legal notice in April seeking for ₹5 crore in damages and the removal of the songs Ottha Ruba Tharen, En Jodi Manja Kuruvi, and Ilamai Idho Idho. He asserted that people utilized modified versions without his consent.
Earlier this month, Justice N Senthilkumar instructed the producers not to show the movie with the songs that were in question. The court said that the production company had given Ilaiyaraaja a 'bald' and insufficient answer to his legal notification. They didn't say exactly what permissions they said they had acquired. Because of this court decision, the streaming service no longer has the movie available.
Yalamanchili The movie's producer, Ravi Shankar, has indicated before that they had received all the necessary permissions from music labels. The court's decision, on the other hand, has made things harder for the movie.
Good Bad Ugly, which generated more than ₹248 crore at the worldwide box office, was directed by Adhik Ravichandran. Ajith Kumar's legendary return to action movies was in this one, which also had a star-studded cast that includes Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Das, Prabhu, Prasanna, and Jackie Shroff.
The movie's quick withdrawal highlights how intricate the laws about intellectual property rights in the entertainment industry are becoming. Fans don't know when or if the movie will be back on the platform.
